Post from Dave on June 26th..... I thought it was so good I wanted it on my blog too.
We had so many awesome adventures where we grew up in Southern Arizona. I had a great group of friends growing up and we were really inseperable. In this group, there was never any temptation that wasn't good. These were good kids that came from good families- the temptation was to go to church and to serve missions. The trouble we'd get into was very minor, compared to what we saw other kids going through. I never even had a curfew- this is because my parents knew about the kind of friends I was hanging out with.I look at where these friends are now- from the choices they've made along their journeys. I can totally see the hand of the Lord in their lives.
I am going to get to meet with more of this same group of friends at a small reunion in Mesa, Arizona next week. I'm very excited. I am halfway hoping that we can run off and play, but I know that most of them have families now so it's not going to happen. We aren't going to run off and play at red knolls; we aren't going to get to climb a hill to one of the 'piss points'; we aren't going to get to go hang out at the haunted Solomon graveyard; we aren't going to get to go steal roadwork signs and leave them on Brother Howell's lawn- and then call the cops on him; we aren't going to get to go hang out in the Holliday's hot tub; we aren't going to get to hike around Mt. Graham; we aren't going to get to drag main in downtown Safford; we aren't going to get to hang out at the Sonic; we aren't going to get to float down the canal to Melynde's house; we aren't going to get to hang out around a fire in the desert; we aren't going to stay up late playing games and doing Dr. Pepper shots at the Coons' house... but it's okay. Maybe it's time that I grew up. On second thought, no thank you.
